melissaintheraw: I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis when I was 21 years old in Nov. 2009. My main symptoms were chronic, severe pelvic pain, bladder discomfort, urgency, frequency, and painful sexual intercourse. My daily life was extremely painful, depressing, and difficult. My diet was really limited because many foods/drinks caused me even more pain. I also developed digestive issues, including bloating, constipation, malnutrition, food allergies, lactose intolerance, extreme GERD (acid reflux) and eosinophilic esophagitis. I spent a whole year going to different doctors and trying different medicines, surgeries, and treatments, but did not see any improvement. I finally found relief through natural methods, including a raw food diet, superfoods, herbs, supplements, yoga, physical therapy, etc. This blog chronicles my healing journey, in hopes that I can help others heal through my experience and knowledge.
